To celebrate International Development Week, the African Awareness Committee and VIDEA will present a documentary on global migration and refugees, “Fire at Sea”, on Feb 7th (Tue) at 7 pm in Young 216 (Camosun College Lansdowne campus). Winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, Fire at Sea is a startling document of the European migrant crisis. Directed by filmmaker Gianfranco Rosi who witnessed a humanitarian disaster that has resulted in the deaths of hundreds attempting to cross the Mediterranean in leaky, overcrowded boats (Italian with English subtitles, 108 minutes). We will also take the opportunity to show our support of refugees and discuss strategies that Canadians can undertake to counter Trump’s policies on immigration and refugees. Please forward to those who are interested. Free admission. (From Francis Yee, Ph.D., Camosun College)
