Health

Of all the four sectors addressing the needs of Syrian newcomers, the health sector is the most urgent and the most untreated. Many Syrian refugees came directly from refugee camps with little-to-no access to healthcare. Upon their arrival to Canada, dental hygiene, audiology care and psychological healing from trauma are the common urgent care needs.

The VIRRT would like to ensure the success of:

  1. Every family obtaining a General Practitioner.
  2. Audiology and dental needs met for every age.
  3. Cultural awareness among healthcare providers when treating psychological health needs.
  4. More health care providers registering with the Interim Federal Health Plan (IFHP).
