Employment Education and Awareness Forum

  • Greater Victoria Public Library 735 Broughton Street Victoria, BC, V8W 3H2 Canada (map)

Hello Victoria Community Members,

Cultural differences can quite often be a foreseen barrier when hiring newcomers, but they actually enrich the workplace and create a more diverse workforce within the community. The Vancouver Island Refugee Response Team is hosting a forum for employers interested in hiring and retaining newcomer refugees/immigrants to their workforce. If you are seeking to hire and would like more awareness and education surrounding the benefits of hiring newcomers, this will be a great event for you to attend.

The forum will consist of speakers from varying employment sectors, such as:

·         Dave Coleman with the Roofing Contractors Association of BC

·         Jordan Perrault with the Construction Association of BC

·         Kamal Panesar, Manager of the Employment Program of BC, Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society

·         And others within various employment sectors

Here are at the event details:

WHEN: Friday, March 24th, from 2:30pm to 4:00pm

WHERE: The Greater Victoria Public Library, in the Community Room, 735 Broughton St., Victoria, BC V8W 3H2

If you are interested in hiring immigrants/refugees, please RSVP by Thursday, March 23rd to Andrea at andrea@vircs.bc.ca.

We look forward to meeting you!
